Founder and Managing Director, Seaweed&Co
Dr Craig Rose is the Founder and Managing Director of Seaweed & Co., a company that advises on, supplies and accredits seaweed for use in food, health and nutrition markets. As a marine biologist, Craig has worked on numerous seaweed research projects and commercial ventures for several years. He recognises the huge scope that seaweed provides as a scalable sustainable food source, to help meet the challenges of growing populations, climate change, and numerous health concerns including obesity and diabetes. His company has invested significantly in seaweed production, with Patent Pending technologies based in the Scottish Outer Hebrides, and has developed industry first techniques such as DNA Authentication of their seaweed ingredients. He is on the Management Group of the Scottish Seaweed Industry Association, and the British Phycolocial SocietyÕs Applied Algae Committee. He has also supervised a PhD on seaweed cultivation, is a guest member of staff at Newcastle University, and a former director of the ASTEC Aquaculture Centre.
