It’s time to dispel those outdated myths: today’s women are proud of their bodies, and keen to talk openly about the changes they undergo. Periods, pregnancy and the menopause have all been cast in a new light. This general awakening has been driven in no small part by the rise of digital technologies and social media, better access to education and more freedom to speak out, often inspired by high-profile women who have taken the initiative.

In this era of taboo-busting, the nutrition and health sectors also have a role to play by providing effective solutions specially tailored to women’s issues.

Focus on women’s problems and what’s at stake

Over the course of their lives, women face many changes: some are positive, some less so, and the consequences for their health and well-being can be significant.

Different life periods, different problems

  • Menstrual cycle, periods and pre-menstrual symptoms from adolescence onwards:
Associated with hormonal fluctuations, for many or even most women, these phenomena bring certain discomforts and difficulties. Cramps, mood swings, skin problems... the list of potential symptoms is long.

  • Pregnancy and motherhood:
From trying to conceive to raising children, not to mention during pregnancy and childbirth, women may feel the need for extra support and seek out effective solutions which are kind to their bodies.

  • Menopause:
On average, somewhere between 30 and 40% of a woman’s life is lived after the menopause. Menopause is a natural event in a woman's life often perceived as a time characterized by gains and losses. The experience is associated with personal challenges and changes in personal roles within the family and society.

Nutrition and health specialists on the front line of women’s issues

At the global level, the total value of the women's health market was estimated at $36.5 billion in 2016[1] and $39.3 billion in 2018,[2] growing by 7.7% in two years. The market is expected to reach $51.3 billion by 2025... a 30.5% increase.

As you can see, the women’s health market is booming. So too is the number of solutions pitched at tackling women’s problems (dietary supplements, nutritional products, cosmetics etc.), and the diverse array of health claims they make. What is the key to success in this market? Proposing effective, respectful solutions that consumers can understand.

Robertet Health & Beauty, supporting women's well-being

New to Vitafoods: Long committed to helping women at every stage of their lives, Robertet has now gone one step further and developed a brand-new ingredient for treating menopause symptoms: Menobelle™.

For 85% of women, menopause is also associated to physical and emotional changes that can strongly affect their everyday life.

Thanks to a blend of synergistic botanicals, Menobelle™ offers a comprehensive, hormone-free, solution for women health, targeting the vasomotor, physical and mental changes associated with menopause.

The efficacy of Menobelle™ is supported by a study vs Placebo conducted on 153 women between the ages of 45 and 55. After two months, almost 90% of participants reported an overall increase in their quality of life and over 80% of them wished to continue the supplement. In particular, sexual desire, night sweats, lack of energy or professional dissatisfaction (among others) were significantly improved vs Placebo.
