The World Health Organization (WHO) notes that the 53 countries making up the European Region have the highest median age in the world, and include 9 of the 10 countries with the highest life expectancy. While health inequalities exist across the region, women still generally live longer than men, and noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) such as heart disease, cancer and stroke continue to account for an increasingly large share of the health care burden.

At the same time, consumers across generations are looking for ways to increase their healthy life years—going beyond the idea of just lifespan into healthspan. Creating environments and policies that support healthy and active ageing are among the ways governments are working to support these endeavors. Concurrently, product developers and marketers are looking at ways to help address the age-related changes seen over time—whether physical signs of aging, cognitive function or metabolic health. New product developers are exploring a range of ingredients that affect multiple body functions, and suppliers are bringing innovative solutions to market to accelerate launch.

Promoting Healthy Ageing: Natural Mediterranean Fruit Extracts

How to tackle age-related health challenges with evidence-based innovative Mediterranean Fruit Extracts

There is growing evidence that the Mediterranean Diet may help alleviate physical frailty and cognitive decline in advanced age. In this webinar, you will learn how certain natural extracts may tackle age-related frailty. Plant-derived foods and beverages, which are typical of a Mediterranean-style diet, mainly contribute to its documented healthy ageing benefits. Although recommended, the daily intake of several servings of fruit, vegetables and olive oil is often not achieved. Inspired by the Mediterranean Diet and in response to increasing consumer demand for plant-based, eco-friendly and sustainable food supplements, Euromed has launched a new line of evidence-based Mediterranean fruit extracts for well-being and healthy ageing. The expanding line includes extracts from artichokes (Cynamed™), pomegranates (Pomanox™), olives (Mediteanox™) and figs (ABAlife™), targeting energy, inflammageing, cardiovascular, metabolic, gut and hair & skin health. All extracts are obtained through osmotized water-only, Pure-Hydro Process™ technology and are suitable for use in nutritional supplements, functional foods, beverages and pharmaceuticals. Key studies will be addressed in the webinar.

Why should you attend?

  • Learn about the healthy ageing values of the Mediterranean diet from the author of two books on this topic
  • Hear how phytochemicals from common dietary sources may tackle cognitive frailty
  • Learn about the role of inflammageing in senescence and natural options to counteract it
