'I have learnt so much from indigenous and traditional approaches to health’ – Dr Vivien Rolfe [Interview]
Dr Vivien Rolfe is a gut physiologist who specialises in herbal and nutritional interactions with the human body.
Startup Innovation Challenge winner Nimble Science has developed a capsule-based precision sampling technology to perform liquid biopsies directly from the small intestine, allowing investigators to examine a product’s interaction there in real time.
So far, datasets targeting the gut microbiome have focused on the faecal microbiome; Nimble says it is working to bring the “true gut microbiome” to the forefront of the nutraceutical space.
The Canadian startup was crowned Most Innovative Service or Technology Supporting the Nutraceutical Industry at the inaugural Vitafoods Europe Startup Innovation Challenge.
We caught up with co-founder and CEO Sabina Bruehlmann after she received the award at a ceremony hosted live at the event in Geneva last month.
