Health-conscious individuals now have access to a revolutionary era of cutting-edge solutions that go far beyond traditional supplements. Consumers critically adapt their diet to their specific needs. People with an active lifestyle search for products that improve their sport performance, strengthen their muscles, increase their endurance, and enhance recovery. The highly demanding society creates another huge demand for cognitive health and emotional well-being products. Aging or chronically ill people are, in the meantime, searching for products that reduce age related or disease related burdens.

If functional food companies want to survive, they have to develop consumer traceable products with scientifically proven health effects.

To distinguish from competitors in this highly competitive market that aims to develop bioactive science driven products, teaming up with the most efficient and innovative science partner is a must.

One example of powerful innovation takes advantage of the knowledge that complex natural products contain a multitude of ingredients that can influence or aid to the bioactive effects. This is the key speciality of Vivaltes. Offering research and technology that’s unlike any other in the world, Vivaltes’ international team of both scientific and data experts guide the way for nutraceuticals of the future.

In one of their research studies Vivaltes mapped entourage effects of different Cannabis cultivars and identified synergistic compounds as well as their required ratio to enhance CBD bioactivity with more than a 100-fold.

In a collaboration with Kyowa Hakko Bio, Vivaltes showed that 3’-Sialyllactose and 6’-Sialyllactose, which that are part of breast milk but are lacking in (most) baby milk formulas, enhance endurance performance.

Vivaltes experts have developed in integrated strategy to help their clients on their road to uniqueness:

To assist with the development of unique new nutraceutical applications a plant data platform aligned with artificial intelligence and statistical models has been built. With >13.000 plants as well as their individual constituents the platform assists in prediction of synergistic health-beneficial combinations of new ingredients and ingredient combinations. It can be used for every health beneficial effect, from sport performance to intestinal health and from aging to cognitive health.

To translate desired nutraceutical properties into proper and most efficient laboratory tests a second data platform has been built based on mode of actions.

To perform scientific research and investigate data predictions Vivaltes operates from its own research centre and laboratory. Vivaltes is dedicated to reduce, replace, and refine animal testing and uses Caenorhabditis elegans nematodes as alternative test strategy. This organism is only one millimetre in size but has the same complexity as much larger organisms, including a gut-brain axis and offers comparable reliability when compared to humans.

The latest news is the finding that 3’-Sialyllactose and 6’-Sialyllactose enhance endurance performance in a collaboration with Kyowa Hakko Bio.

Highlights of this work can be found in our joint research paper and reveal:
