Sports injury is a widely used term to refer to issues occurring from minor exercise to professional sports exercise. The type of injuries are not limited to sports alone. They can be work related or something from everyday activity; but, the term encompasses injuries that one gets when ‘stretching’ the body beyond normal limits. While injuries vary, a common symptom is musculoskeletal pain. The musculoskeletal system is the network of muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, and other tissues that provides the body with stability and enables movement. So any musculoskeletal pain affects further mobility in addition to impacting quality of life.
Acute pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal pains associated with sudden exertion or exercise. It is the pain that usually comes on suddenly and can go away when treated or after the body has had time to heal. Pain is a useful sensation—it's a warning to the body that there is an injury that needs attention. Acute pain is usually managed by using over the counter (OTC) medications such as aspirin or paracetamol (acetaminophen). Pain that requires more than this is usually quite serious and managed differently.
But while acute pain can stay for a few days or weeks, as the body heals, many OTC medications are not recommended for continuous use. For some, taking such medications may not be an option due to certain conditions they may have. Instead, consumers are seeking more natural, efficacious solutions..
Rhuleave-K® is a 100% natural solution to pain management. In a randomized, active controlled, open label study, published in 2020 (Medicine (Baltimore). 2020 Jul 10; 99(28):e20373. doi: 10.1097/MD.0000000000020373.), 88 healthy subjects with acute musculoskeletal pain were randomized to receive Rhuleave-K® (1,000mg/d) or 1,000mg/d acetaminophen for 7 days. Change in pain intensity and pain relief were measured at 6 hours, 3 days, and 7 days. The onset of analgesia was measured by perceptible pain relief and meaningful pain relief. Other measures were McGill Pain Questionnaire and Patient Global Impression Change. Rhuleave-K® resulted in average magnitude of pain relief comparable to acetaminophen. Sixty-six percent of subjects in the treatment group reported positive response in pain relief (≥50% max TOTPAR; total pain relief) after 6 hours, compared to 73% in acetaminophen group. Seventy-three percent of subjects on Rhuleave-K® were considered positive responders, compared to 80% in the in acetaminophen group. The average time of onset of analgesia was 1 hour for Rhuleave-K® group, versus 0.83 hour for in acetaminophen group. At the end of day 3 and 7, there was significant improvement (P<.001 for day 3 and day 7) in the pain condition of the Rhuleave-K® group and was comparable to acetaminophen group (P=.436 for day 3 and P=.529 for day 7). The total McGill Pain score showed significant reduction in pain with Rhuleave-K® irrespective of the pain intensity statistically equal (P=.468) to acetaminophen. Both the groups were equal in providing sensory pain relief (P=.942), but Rhuleave-K® was 8.57 times significantly better (P=.027) than acetaminophen in reducing the unpleasantness and emotional aspects (affective domain) involved with acute pain. The results showed that Rhuleave-K® used in the study may act as a natural, fast acting, and safe alternative for acute pain relief comparable to acetaminophen.
While the constituents of Rhuleave-K—extracts of turmeric and boswellia along with sesame seed oil—have been used for centuries, this formulation is developed using the proprietary SPEEDTECHTM technology which enables fast delivery of actives to the affected area. RHULEAVE-K has also been studied for safety, and the individual ingredients have themselves been used in food and medicine for centuries.
RHULEAVE-K is usually available as soft-gels or liquid capsules and can be conveniently taken based on need. Studied to be safe even at 11 times recommended dosages, there is minimal risk of over dosage.
RHULEAVE-K® is also a boon for those with conditions where OTC NSAIDs are limited or prohibited. This is a significant part of the population who have to endure pain as OTC NSAIDs are out of reach for them. RHULEAVE-K® can be a safe alternative.
