According to Mintel GNPD, hawthorn flavour has become active in the carbonated drinks category over the last 2-3 years in China, with the flavour share rising from 0.0% to 2.4%.

A consumer survey in Mintel China Reports - Gut Health Management 2021, 31% of consumers said they had improved their gut health in the past 12 months through traditional Chinese medicine dietary treatments (e.g., hawthorn, yam), while 38% said they had "not used but would be interested in using it".
New Launches in Mintel Global New Products Database (GNPD)
Up to 90% of the new Hawthorn flavoured food and beverage products are launched in the mainland China market. In China, the share of hawthorn flavours has grown from 0.8% (2017.12-2018.11) to 1.4% (2020.12-2021.11) over the past 4 years, representing a growth rate of 78.1%.
Among the new food and beverage products with hawthorn flavour, apart from traditional fruit snacks (e.g., hawthorn cakes) and Juice drinks, in recent years hawthorn flavour has started to appear in new sub-categories such as carbonated soft drinks, lollipops and chocolates.
