Active ingredients commonly used in nutraceuticals and cosmeceuticals originate from a diverse, complex and rich group of molecules found in nature. A multitude of studies have shown that they offer solutions to a wide range of conditions/problems but at the same time they are plagued with a series of issues, the main one being very low bioavailability. If bioavailability is low, then the health/cosmetic outcome (for the consumer) is also low or even non-existent. This leads to low repeat business or even, brand awareness for the wrong reasons … “XXXXX products didn’t do anything for me.”
Advanced delivery systems can help solve this problem and, when developed /applied properly, they can offer supercharged bioavailability to your existing interesting ingredients. We will explore the features of tiny structures, such as micelles and liposomes, and why they are very efficient at delivering active ingredients to the bloodstream, and what this means to both the manufacturer and consumer.
